Teeth Whitening Options

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

As part of the natural aging process, you may notice your teeth losing their youthful luster. Add to this the tell-tale stains of coffee, tea and other acidic foods, and your once-winning smile may need brightening.  Dr. Ami Barakat can help you understand the latest in tooth whitening options and tailor a plan to restore your white, bright smile. One of the best options is the PolaOffice+ brand, available exclusively in dental offices like Dentistry@Main in Ottawa, Ontario.

Teeth Whitening At the Retail Store

Over-the-counter (OTC) tooth whitening kits are widely available in many retail stores.  But, OTC kits are not available in the same strengths as the PolaOffice+ brand. Because OTC kits are designed for home use, they don’t offer the powerful whitening abilities available at Dr. Barakat’s Ontario dental office. Many people try over-the-counter whitening solutions, only to be disappointed that signs of aging, staining and yellowing persist.

Teeth Whitening At the Dental Office

Your most effective teeth whitening options are available only at the dentist’s office.  Applications are stronger, and Dr. Barakat has the tools and training to keep these powerful whiteners from irritating your gums. Bonus – PolaOffice+ is so fast and effective, most patients can return from their lunch hour with a whiter, younger looking smile.

To regain your dazzling smile, please contact Dr. Barakat today at Dentistry@Main, serving Ottawa, Kanata, and Stittsville, Ontario.

How long do I have to wear Invisalign?

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011

If you have always wanted straighter teeth, but don’t want traditional metal braces, Invisalign may be a great solution. At Dentistry@Main, Ottawa cosmetic dentist Dr. Ami Barakat works with adult patients to provide the most appropriate teeth-straightening technologies. Dr. Barakat understands you probably don’t want a “mouth full of metal,” so he offers Invisalign as a modern solution to adult teeth straightening.

Length of Invisalign Treatment

Though there are many advantages to Invisalign, treatment times will vary depending upon your individual needs. Because of this, you can reasonably expect Invisalign treatment to last as long as treatment with traditional braces, which is generally between 9 and 18 months.

Invisalign’s clear, removable aligners (similar in appearance to mouth guards) are worn full-time, with the exception of removal for eating, drinking, and dental hygiene.  Each set lasts approximately two weeks and realign teeth gently and gradually towards their desired placement.

Is Invisalign right for you? If you have mild to moderate tooth crowding, misaligned teeth, uneven teeth, or gaps between teeth, you may be a good candidate. A thorough examination and consultation with Dr. Barakat is the only way to know for sure. He has attended and completed specialized training in treating patients with Invisalign, and has helped many patients enjoy the confidence that comes with a great smile.

Invisalign Process

Thursday, May 5th, 2011

How can you straighten your teeth without unsightly metal braces? With Invisalign, modern dentistry’s solution to invisible teeth straightening. The Invisalign process is simple, painless and effective, and offers numerous advantages over traditional orthodontics.

Invisalign: A Straight Path to Success

To begin your Invisalign treatment, Dr. Ami Barakat of Dentistry@Main in Ottawa, Ontario takes digital X-rays of your teeth. Next, Dr. Barakat tailors a treatment plan to your specific needs. After Dr. Barakat makes an impression of your teeth, technicians create a custom set of Invisalign aligners, each with subtle differences to address the sequential stages of the Invisalign teeth straightening process. These aligners gently and gradually move your teeth towards the desired straightness. In just a few months, you’ll have the straight teeth you’ve always wanted.

Convenient and Comfortable

Unlike braces, aligners can be removed at mealtimes to allow for a normal diet, and again when it’s time to brush and floss your teeth, which is so important to ensuring optimum dental health while undergoing treatment with Invisalign.

Invisalign is convenient for the family budget too. Dentistry@Main accepts a wide variety of payment types and plans.

Ready to give the Invisalign process a try? Please contact Dr. Barakat today to schedule your free consultation at Dentistry@Main, serving Ottawa, Kanata, and Stittsville, Ontario.
